The Town is excited to announce a summer beer garden pop-up at the Ajax Waterfront, near Paradise Park, for Summer 2026. The pilot, which will offer food and beverage service within a clearly defined area of the park, is anticipated to be open to the public July 1, 2026.

Following a Town-led selection process, Town Brewery has been chosen as the private operator.

More information will be available following a project launch scheduled for the end of May.

  • The anticipated opening date is July 1, 2026. The closing date for the season is still to be confirmed.

Background

Who decided to move forward with this pilot?

  • Ajax Council directed staff to explore pilot projects involving alcohol service in public spaces. Staff then conducted a process to select an operator and develop this pilot concept.

Licensing & Public Notice

Why is there an AGCO sign at the site?

  • The sign indicates that an application has been submitted for a liquor sales licence through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). The AGCO requires a public notice period so community members can review the application and submit feedback.

Why does the application show a numbered company name?

  • Liquor licences are sometimes issued to a registered numbered company. This is a standard legal business structure used for ownership and licensing purposes.

Can residents provide feedback on the liquor licence?

  • Yes. Residents can submit comments directly to the AGCO during the public notice period.
