I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to my colleague, Marilyn Crawford, on her election as the next Mayor of Ajax.
Marilyn and I have worked together for 16 years, serving the people of Ajax and helping to shape our community through periods of significant growth and change. During that time, we have worked alongside one another to advance important projects such as the Audley Recreation Centre, support the development of Pat Bayly Square as a vibrant community gathering place, strengthen relationships with our business community, attract major employers like Amazon and H&M, reduce municipal red tape, and support decisions that expand housing choices for Ajax residents.
Public service is never without challenges, but it also presents tremendous opportunities to make a lasting difference in people’s lives. I know Mayor-elect Crawford approaches this responsibility with a deep commitment to our community and a strong understanding of the issues that matter most to residents.
I want to thank the people of Ajax for the trust they placed in me throughout my time as Mayor. It has been an honour to serve this community and work alongside dedicated Council members, staff, volunteers, community organizations, businesses, and residents.
I wish Mayor-elect Crawford and the entire 2026-2030 Council every success as they take on the opportunities and challenges ahead. Ajax is my home, and I look forward to seeing our community continue to grow, prosper, and thrive over the next four years.
