The Town of Ajax is undertaking the detailed design to widen Harwood Avenue N from Woodcock Avenue to Taunton Road W following the recommendations from the Town’s 2024 Schedule ‘C’ Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Study. The scope of work includes widening Harwood Avenue from two-lanes to four-lanes, retrofitting Root Pond, new multi-use trail, drainage improvements, new traffic signals and streetlighting.
Construction is anticipated to start in Q3 2027, depending on utility relocation timelines. Periodic traffic lane reduction at intersections may be required to facilitate road construction works. Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained during construction. Project information signs will be posted on Harwood Avenue and updates will also be provided on the Town of Ajax website at www.ajax.ca/construction.
