Today’s announcement marks a proud and long‑awaited milestone for Ajax. I made a clear commitment during my 2018 mayoral campaign to bring a Durham Regional Police Service station to Ajax, and that promise is now becoming a reality. Ajax has long been the only southern Durham municipality without a local police station, creating a clear equity gap in service and presence. The new facility at 1401 Harwood Avenue North will finally close that gap. A local DRPS station will strengthen emergency response, enhance community safety, and, most importantly, help build trust and meaningful relationships between officers and the diverse communities they serve. This investment represents fairness, presence and partnership, ensuring Ajax residents receive the same level of service as their neighbours while fostering stronger bonds between the police and the community for generations to come.
