Provincial grant continues to support and protect communities impacted by hate incidents in Ontario

Once again, the Town of Ajax is making its Grants and Partnerships team available to Ajax’s faith-based, cultural, 2SLGBTQQIA+ and First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous organizations who may require guidance or support in their applications to the Provincial government’s 2026-2027 Ontario Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant.

The Ontario Anti-Hate Security and Prevention Grant was first announced in 2021 and has provided over $110 million to support over 6,900 faith-based and cultural communities and organizations to ensure they have safe and secure community spaces to practice their faith or freely and safely express their identity.

This year, the program has been expanded to include two funding streams designed to address immediate safety needs while tackling the root causes of hate. The Security and Infrastructure stream will continue to support security improvements. The new Special Projects stream will support community-led initiatives focused on preventing hate, promoting education and raising awareness, while helping organizations better prepare for and respond to hate-related incidents.
