Communities across Ontario have embraced JRPM as a way to promote local programs and events, parks and facilities that are available for all citizens to enjoy. Access to park and recreation is a fundamental human need that helps foster personal health, strong communities, and social inclusion. JRPM celebrates Ontario’s spectacular parks and recreation services and raises awareness for the role they play as a pathway to individual, community, and environmental well-being.

Official Contest Rules and Regulations for Durham Region June Is Recreation & Parks Month
Eligibility
External promotions are open to all residents of Canada (excluding Quebec)], with the exception of elected officials and employees of The Town of Ajax, Town of Whitby, City of Oshawa, Municipality of Clarington, City of Pickering, Township of Brock, Township of Uxbridge and the Township of Scugog (“Durham Region collective”) and any of the sponsoring companies or affiliated companies. This includes their immediate families, cohabitants, agents, or contractors. Residents under the age of 18 may participate with the consent of their parent or legal guardian.
The Durham Region collective reserves the right to require proof of identity and/or eligibility, in a form satisfactory to it, to verify the eligibility of an entrant. Failure to provide proof of eligibility to the satisfaction of The Durham Region collective may result in the disqualification of the entrant, at the sole discretion of The Durham Region collective.
The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. The Durham Region collective reserves the right to cancel or suspend the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of The Durham Region collective will be final and binding on all entrants without right of appeal. No purchase is necessary. The contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein. By entering and/or accepting a prize, the entrants agree to irrevocably attorn to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.
Contest Details
- Attend events listed on the June is Recreation & Parks Month passport
- Sign in at each event you attend by scanning the unique barcode and you will be entered into a grand prize draw. Personal information collected may include name, email address, municipality and telephone number, and will be used solely for the administration of the contest.
- No purchase is required.
- The contest begins at 12:01 a.m. EST on June 1, 2026 and ends at 11:59 pm EST on June 30, 2026.
- One winner will be selected at random.
- There is one grand prize to be won. The grand prize is a bicycle with a commercial retail value of approximately $600, which will be purchased from a local bike shop and provided to the winner. The prize must be accepted “as is” and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other value.
- One entry per person.

No purchase necessary. One entry per person. Use of any automated system to submit entries is prohibited and will result in disqualification.
The Durham Region collective holds the right to disqualify entries with inappropriate content.
Judging and Publication
All entries must be submitted to The Durham Region collective electronically by June 30, 2026 in order to be eligible for participation. The Grand Prize Winner will be announced by July 15, 2026. Following the deadline, the grand prize winner will be notified by email/phone call. Prize must be claimed by August 15, 2026. The odds of winning are dependent on the number of eligible entries received.
The winner(s) will be selected based on a random draw from all eligible entries received before the deadline. To be declared the winner, the selected entrant must correctly answer a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question, and must be in full compliance with the contest rules. Winner(s’) names and/or photographs may be published across The Durham Region collective’s social media channels and other marketing publications. The Durham Region collective reserves the non-exclusive right to publish any entry and/or use any entry in promotional and advertising materials. The Durham Region collective reserves the right to request promotional rights from the entrant for the purposes of additional marketing.
If a selected entrant(s): (i) cannot be contacted within five (5) business days,(ii) fails to correctly answer the skill-testing question, (iii) fails to provide proof of eligibility satisfactory to The Durham Region collective, upon request and in the sole discretion of The Durham Region collective, and/or (iv) fails to claim the prize by the deadline noted above, the selected entrant(s) will be disqualified and forfeit the prize. The Durham Region collective reserves the right to select an alternate entrant from the remaining eligible entries. The prizes must be accepted “as is” and The Durham Region collective reserves the right to substitute the prize.
Any costs or expenses incurred by the winner in claiming or using their prize, not specifically described as part of the prize, are the sole responsibility of the winner. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, internet fees and data plans are not included in the prizes and are the winner’s sole responsibility.
The contest prize may not be exactly as advertised. The approximate retail value indicated above for each prize is the approximate retail value of each prize at the launch of the Contest. No financial compensation will be made or required if actual prize value is lower than the prize value quoted in these rules.
Responsibility
The Durham Region collective, all of its successor corporations and entities and their respective past, present and future elected and appointed officials, officers, representatives, employees, servants, agents, and their respective successors, assigns, heirs and administrators shall not be held responsible for any injuries, loss or damages of any kind, direct or indirect, with respect to or arising in any way from the contest, including but not limited to (i) participation in any activities listed on the passport, (ii) use of facilities, premises or equipment, (iii) entries that are lost, damaged, or delayed during transportation, (iv) any failure of the social media platform during this contest, and (v) any problems or technical malfunctions of computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software or any email, online or internet entry lost due to technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or social media platform or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion.
By entering the contest, each entrant consents to The Durham Region collective collecting, using and disclosing the personal information submitted with the entry for the purposes of administering the contest and notifying selected entrant(s) and winner(s) in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.56, as amended.
Copyright Notice
With regard to any photograph(s) submitted to a social media promotion, the entrant, or the owner of copyright in the photograph, retains copyright. By submitting any photograph to a social media promotion, the entrant grants (or warrant that the owner of such materials expressly grants) The Durham Region collective a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any purpose, including, but not limited to advertising and promotional materials including its social media platforms and website, exhibition, and commercial products, including but not limited to The Durham Region collective publications. The Durham Region collective will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses. Winning entrants are required to sign a release containing the above conditions.
Town of Ajax Recreational Events and Activities this June
The Town has a wide range of programming to get you active and enjoying recreation this June!
In June, we recognize the role that older adults and seniors play in our community. Celebrate by participating in free activities! Hosted in part by the Ajax Public Library. Registration is required.
In partnership with Pride Durham, the Town of Ajax is happy to host Durham’s annual Pride Parade and after party. The parade starts in our downtown core (Harwood Avenue South & Falby Court) and ends at Falby Court with a post-parade celebration at the Ajax Community Centre featuring entertainment, activities, vendors and fun for everyone!

Adult Pickleball Practice Clinic
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in recreation that combines three other popular sports: badminton, tennis and table tennis. This drop-in clinic will emphasize paddle handling and court rules in basic two-on-two competition with fellow participants. The first hour of this clinic will be instructor-led and participants will practice their skills for the last two hours. Pickleball is a fun, easy-to-learn game for all ages and skill levels! This is a drop-in activity intended for ages 18 years and up. Space is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

Multisensory rooms/spaces are dedicated spaces that control a sensory environment and allow individuals of all ages and abilities to come in and use various equipment to meet their own sensory needs and goals. Multisensory spaces allow for the equipment and the room to be adjusted to meet the needs of the individual using the space to provide the level of sensory stimulation they benefit from. Using a multisensory space can have a variety of positive benefits, including but not limited to calming/relaxation, sensory stimulation, fine and gross motor skill development, communication development, socialization and more. The Multisensory Space Drop-In at the Town of Ajax is designed with this adaptability in mind.
All ages; a caregiver must be present.
